[GA4 & GTM Setup]
Reliable data are the prerequisite for every strategic decision.
We plan and implement complete setups of Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to build a reliable, GDPR-compliant tracking system aligned with real business goals. We work on corporate sites, e-commerce, lead generation, and B2B and B2C applications — with architectures built on structured data layers, custom events, and integration with the entire marketing technology stack. One goal only: to transform tracking from generic data collection into a measurable foundation for every strategic decision on marketing, sales, and conversions.
Main Objectives
- 01
DATA LAYER ARCHITECTURE OBJECTIVES
- Design structured data layers with consistent nomenclature and industry standards for each tracked event
- Document tracking specifications with a tracking plan shared among marketing, development, and analytics teams
- Ensure scalability of the setup to add new events without having to reconfigure the entire architecture
- Validate each implementation in staging with structured QA before deploying to production
- 02
GA4 EVENTS AND CONVERSION OBJECTIVES
- Implement complete Enhanced Measurement with custom configuration on scroll, outbound link, and internal search
- Configure custom events for each valuable interaction — form, CTA click, video play, scroll milestone
- Define primary and secondary conversions with dedicated event-scoped and user-scoped parameters for each KPI
- Implement complete e-commerce tracking with view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout, purchase, and refund
- 03
ENHANCED CONVERSIONS OBJECTIVES AND FIRST-PARTY SIGNALS
- Implement Enhanced Conversions for Google Ads with client-side hashing of user data to improve attribution
- Configure Google Signals with user consent for cross-device tracking and advanced demographics
- Integrate User-ID and Client-ID to identify logged-in users cross-device and reconstruct complete customer journeys
- Build first-party audiences from GA4 that can be activated on Google Ads, Display & Video 360, and Search Ads 360
- 04
GOALS OF GOOGLE TAG MANAGER AND TAG MANAGEMENT
- Centralize the management of all marketing tags on GTM with governance, version control, and dedicated workspace
- Implement custom triggers and variables for each platform — Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, TikTok
- Build a tag governance structure with naming conventions, organized folders, and complete documentation
- Manage deploys with structured QA in Preview Mode and approval processes before live publication
- 05
STACK MARKETING INTEGRATION OBJECTIVES
- Integrate GA4 with Google Ads for conversion import, audience sharing, and cross-platform attribution
- Connect Search Console for organic query analysis, average position, and actual clicks from SEO traffic
- Integrate CRM, marketing automation, and CDP database with server-side events and Measurement Protocol
- Configure BigQuery export for advanced analyses, custom attribution models, and dedicated data warehousing
- 06
VALIDATION AND MAINTENANCE OBJECTIVES
- Perform structured post-deploy QA with dedicated tools (GA4 DebugView, GTM Preview, Tag Assistant)
- Constantly monitor the health of the setup with alerts on traffic anomalies, missing events, and non-functioning tags
- Build periodic audits to identify obsolete events, duplicate conversions, and tags that generate data discrepancies
- Document every change with versioned changelog and rollback process in case of post-deploy regressions
How do we work?
19ADV’s operational framework
in Performance Marketing
01
Briefing and definition of requirements
We analyze the business model, target audience, and reference markets — B2C, B2B, and D2C — and define concrete objectives and measurable KPIs: listens, visits, leads, awareness, and cost per acquisition.
02
Free diagnostic audit
If you are already investing in Spotify Ads, we analyze your account to identify issues and opportunities in campaign structure, segmentation, audiences, and audio and video creatives.
03
Strategy definition
We build the campaign strategy starting from the objectives not from the available formats and we define the targeting budget, mix of formats and integration with the other active channels
04
Production and setup
Gestiamo o coordiniamo la produzione degli asset creativi script audio voiceover e video e configuriamo le campagne su Spotify Ad Studio con tracciamento preciso degli obiettivi
05
Ottimizzazione continua
We monitor performance and constantly optimize exposure frequency, targeting and creativity. No campaign is left running unsupervised.
06
Reporting and analysis
Periodic reports with the metrics that really matter: real coverage, ad completion frequency, traffic generated and cost per result, no vanity metrics, just useful data
GA4 & GTM Setup Campaigns
Methodological approach
- Tracking plan structured as a shared document with events, parameters, conversions, and business owner for each
- Data layer architecture designed together with the development team for native integration into the site code
- Iterative implementation with QA in staging, Preview Mode on GTM, and validation on DebugView GA4 before going live
- Complete documentation of setup, events, and tag firing logic to ensure continuity even with team changes
GA4 & GTM services available
- Complete GA4 setup from scratch with tracking plan, data layer, custom events, conversions, and property configuration
- Migration from Universal Analytics to GA4 with event mapping, metric reconstruction, and discrepancy validation

Frequently Asked Questions about GA4 & GTM Setup
GA4 is an event-based system fundamentally different from Universal Analytics, which was session-based. Metrics like bounce rate, sessions, and goals are redefined or replaced; the attribution model is data-driven; the parameter limit is different. A poorly executed migration results in significant discrepancies between historical and new data: accurate mapping of each event, reconstruction of conversions, and structured validation are needed. Migrating means designing from scratch, not copy-pasting.
Why without a tracking plan the setup becomes chaos in 6-12 months. Duplicate events, inconsistent naming, missing parameters, overlapping conversions. The tracking plan is a document shared between marketing, development, analytics, and management that defines what to track, with what nomenclature, which parameters, and who is the owner of each KPI. It is the difference between having data to make decisions and having thousands of events that no one can read anymore.
For a medium-sized corporate or lead generation site, a complete setup takes 2-4 weeks: tracking plan (1 week), GTM implementation and data layer (1-2 weeks), QA and validation (1 week). For e-commerce with a complex catalog or B2B with integrated CRM and marketing automation, the timeline extends to 4-8 weeks. It is not an activity to be rushed: a hurried setup generates errors that will cost months of analysis on incorrect data.
Yes, whenever possible. Enhanced Conversions sends first-party data (email, phone, address) to Google in hashed and encrypted form, significantly improving the attribution of Google Ads campaigns in a context of increasing cookie restrictions. Without Enhanced Conversions, you lose 20-40% of tracked conversions on Google Ads. It has become a prerequisite for a modern setup, no longer a nice-to-have.
Consent Mode v2 is mandatory to use the advanced features of Google Ads in Europe (audience remarketing, conversion optimization). Without proper implementation of user consent, Google Ads does not receive the necessary signals to optimize campaigns and Google Analytics collects incomplete data. The setup must correctly manage the four consent states (granted/denied for analytics_storage and ad_storage) and apply Google’s conversion modeling on cookieless data.
For simple sites and basic tracking, yes. For professional setups with complex conversions, CRM integrations, advanced e-commerce, or multi-domain, DIY implementation tends to produce errors that are difficult to identify and impossible to correct retroactively (wrong data remains wrong). A professional setup done well once is worth 12-24 months of reliable data; a poorly done setup leads to wrong decisions for the same 12-24 months before someone notices.
